The Role of Elohim and El Elyon in the Concept of the Soul Trap
In the realm of spiritual discourse, the concepts of the soul, mind, ego, and the preparation for life after death hold profound significance. Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) and El Elyon (אֵל עֶלְיוֹן), central to Hebrew theology, provide a framework to understand these metaphysical elements and their implications on our existence. This article unpacks the roles of Elohim and El Elyon, delving into the nature of the soul, the intricacies of the mind, the pitfalls of the ego, and the preparation for life after death, drawing on biblical scriptural support from the World Messianic Bible.
What is the Soul?
The soul (נֶפֶשׁ — “nephesh”) transcends the material realm, serving as the vital force that encompasses all experiences. It is the divine spark, an observer beyond the visible, a conscious entity navigating reality unseen. This celestial essence functions as the all-seeing eye, perceiving the intricacies of the mind, emotional states, and the sensory realm. It is the being experiencing reality. The soul, an immortal flame within, empowers the utterance of “I am.” The letter “I,” a singular line denoting unity, represents the true self, devoid of gender, name, or form. It is the indivisible One. The phrases following the phrase “I am” resonate within the dualistic confines of the material world. The soul is experiencing the program being played out by the central nervous system.
What is the Mind?
The perception of the soul’s experience is generated by the mind (מַחֲשָׁבָה — “machshavah”). The mind, with its boundless capacity, opens the door to limitless possibilities. Every manifestation finds its origin in the individual’s mind. Take, for instance, the act of kicking a football — it begins with a decision formed in the mind. The mind serves as the projector for the soul; a prime example is astral projection, where the mind has the capability to project consciousness (soul) into the astral plane. In this dynamic, the soul takes on the role of the observer, the mind acts as the projector, and the body serves as the vessel for the reality you inhabit.
Preparing for Life After Death
All things seen perish, all things that are not seen are immortal. Preparing for life after death is crucial while we are alive. When we depart from the body, we are left with the true state of mind and emotional self. While we are alive, we can cover these things up with distractions such as food, sex, and entertainment. When we are in our raw spirit form, there is no hiding our true state of mind. It is so important we kill off the lower nature of ourselves before we die so we don’t leave the body with desire, lust, and greed, which may cause us to reincarnate.
To prepare for life after death, the individual needs to remove all mental addictions such as the desire for sex, food addictions, drug addictions, and all things that consist of materialistic pleasure and wants. Instead of having mental addictions to the external world, we need to turn within ourselves and find love, happiness, and joy within ourselves so we do not rely on external things to source our happiness and joy.
The seven deadly sins (lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, pride) are seven internal states that will cause us to operate our lives in the lower three chakras. They are also the seven internal states that will result in us wanting to reincarnate in the afterlife.
Ego vs. Soul
The ego (אֲנִי — “ani”) and the soul (נֶפֶשׁ — “nephesh”) represent two contrasting aspects of our being:
Ego
- Seeks to serve itself
- Seeks outward recognition
- Sees life as a competition
- Seeks to preserve self
- Looks outwards
- Feels lack
- Is mortal
- Is drawn to lust
- Enjoys the prize
- Is the cause of pain
- Seeks to be filled
- Is “Me vs. You”
Soul
- Seeks to serve others
- Seeks inner authenticity
- Sees life as a gift
- Seeks to preserve others
- Looks inward
- Feels abundance
- Is eternal
- Is drawn to love
- Enjoys the journey
- Is the cause of healing
- Is eternal wholeness
- Is “We”
Elohim and El Elyon’s Role in Managing the Soul Trap
Elohim and El Elyon play pivotal roles in the spiritual realm, guiding the soul’s journey and ensuring alignment with divine will. Elohim, often associated with the creative and judicial aspects of God, emphasizes the importance of following divine law and maintaining spiritual integrity. El Elyon, the Most High God, represents the ultimate source of all creation and the overseer of cosmic order.
Biblical Scriptural Support
The World Messianic Bible provides numerous references that illustrate the roles of Elohim and El Elyon:
- Elohim as Creator and Judge: “In the beginning, God (Elohim) created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1) This verse highlights Elohim’s role as the originator of all existence.
- El Elyon as the Sovereign: “Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High (El Elyon).” (Genesis 14:18) This passage underscores El Elyon’s supreme authority and his involvement in the spiritual hierarchy.
The Soul Trap and Liberation
The concept of the soul trap involves the entanglement of the soul in the material realm, driven by egoic desires and attachments. Elohim and El Elyon provide the spiritual framework and guidance necessary for liberation from this trap. By adhering to divine principles, embracing inner authenticity, and transcending material desires, individuals can align with their higher selves and prepare for their journey beyond the physical realm.
Conclusion
Understanding the roles of Elohim and El Elyon in the context of the soul trap offers profound insights into the nature of existence and the journey of the soul. By recognizing the distinctions between the ego and the soul, and by preparing for life after death through spiritual practices and inner work, individuals can transcend the limitations of the material world and align with their divine purpose. As we navigate this earthly experience, let us strive to embody the qualities of the soul and honor the divine guidance of Elohim and El Elyon.
